Kelp On The Beach


The first large swell of the winter tears up the kelp forest canopy exporting tons of kelp from the forest each fall. Much of this kelp is delivered to the beach by waves that simultaneously erode the beach sand. 12/2/2006. (Photo by Shane Anderson). SBC LTER.
